I am a big fan of Ozlem @ring_beller designs, & so are my twins, Layla & Wolf! The love started with Ozlem’s first monster – Walt, then continued with Janis & now, we have George joining the family! ♥
I was very excited when Ozlem contacted me to ask if i was interested in testing her newest pattern design, George – the Rebel Monster. I had the perfect yellow cotton yarn from Lincraft in my stash, that would be perfect for him.
I also loved the little party hat & scarf George is wearing, & of course, I used the accessories to add my trademark rainbows! Rainbow all the things 🌈
The yellow ombre striped arms & legs were a happy accident, as I making the body I could see I wasn’t going to have enough yarn for his arms & legs. Eek. And not wanting Ozlem to wait, while I sourced more, I had the idea of doing the appenxdures in different colours. First I was going to do a Frankenstein-ish design, with each leg & arm a different colour, but then i had the idea of mixing shades of yellow. And i love how it turned out!!
Typically though, after i finished George, i was tidying up my stash & found another 2 balls of the yellow cotton 🙄🙄🙄
Here is George with Janis, don’t they look perfect together!! Janis is a big bigger than George, & both are so cuddly.
I will be making another, more colourful, version of Walt Monster to go with Janis & George next too, as the twins fight over poor Walt already, & its a perfect excuse. I like everything to match nicely.
The yarn i used for George:
Main Body – Yellow Cotton 8ply from Lincraft (own brand)
Stripes on Hat & Scarf – Paintbox Yarns cotton DK from LoveCrafts
Yellow ombre colours on legs & arms – Bendigo Woollen Mills Cotton 8 ply
I hope this inspires you to get making your own adorable monster crew!
